WHAT WE DO
We provide emergency care to abandoned and at-risk children of all ages in the tri-state Western region of Honduras.
As our organization has continued to grow, we are now a team of over 20 volunteers and staff, with more than 5 ministry buildings currently sustaining more than 4 programs.
OUR PROGRAMS

FOSTER CARE
We work within the child welfare system to bridge the gap for children in need of safe, loving families.
In partnership with SENAF (Secretaria de Niñez, Adolescencia y Familia, Honduras’ child and youth services), we help facilitate child placement and provide essential resources to identify, educate, and support foster families.
Our goal is to empower both children and foster families to build healthy attachments, fostering healing and helping them develop the skills needed to form meaningful relationships and achieve lasting success
TRANSITION CARE
Our Transition House provides a temporary home for children with special cases awaiting foster and adoptive families or permanent homes.
Special cases may include sibling groups, teenage mothers, newborns, severe malnutrition, or other special needs, Legacy of Hope is one of the only crisis care centers equipped for this type of care and remains the sole resource in our region providing such transitional services.
Our children stay until their needs are met or a more permanent home is found, which can range from a few weeks to several years.
EMERGENCY PLACEMENT HOMES
Our Emergency Placement Homes offer a safe, nurturing, family-style environment where children and teens in crisis can find refuge and healing.
These homes provide short-term care until child services can take the necessary legal steps to ensure justice and locate safe family members for the child.
Our dedicated staff, psychologists, and leadership team work together to help each child begin their healing journey, rebuild trust, and identify safe adults. We aim to foster healthy connections within their families and communities, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
Most of the children in our care come from situations involving abuse, neglect, or immigration-related challenges. They may stay with us for 72 hours or longer, depending on the specific circumstances of their case.
FAMILY PRESERVATION
At the Legacy of Hope Foundation, we believe that family preservation is key to addressing the orphan crisis. By identifying struggling families through trusted local channels, such as community groups and churches, we create customized service plans with clear, actionable goals designed to empower and support them.
We walk alongside these families, providing ongoing collaboration and tailored assistance to ensure they receive the resources and guidance needed to stay together and flourish.
OUR APPROACH
By adhering to best practices, we are committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and loving family environment for every child.
Our dedicated Honduran staff, psychologists, and leadership team work collaboratively to ensure that each child receives personalized attention and care from trusted adults, empowering them to heal, grow, and reach their full potential.
