A Story of Faith, Community, and Hope: Supporting Leticia’s Family

On August 3rd, we had the privilege of partnering with our local church to support a young woman named Leticia, who was recently widowed and left to care for her four young boys.

Through the Both Hands organization, we coordinated a project to make essential improvements to her home, including leveling the floors, installing a new roof, and applying fresh paint. Additionally, we provided bunk beds, giving each boy his own space to sleep—an exciting change for the family, as the children had previously shared one bed.

This project was a beautiful opportunity to unite with our local church and share hope with Leticia, her boys, and the broader community. The church’s men’s group stepped up to install the roof, while the women’s group gathered donations, cleaned, and organized Leticia’s home. Neighbors also joined in—one family cooked meals for the entire team, demonstrating the unity and love that marked this special day.

It was amazing to witness how the entire village rallied together to support Leticia’s family. You can see some of our work from this special day in this short video:

Beyond the home improvements, a church ministry group went around the community, praying with families and sharing the gospel. It was deeply moving to see how eager the community was to receive God’s love, and we were blessed to witness some come to know Jesus as their Savior.

At Legacy of Hope, our commitment to Leticia and her boys didn’t end with the project. We continue to provide grief counseling and other supportive interventions to remind them they are not alone. Through God’s faithfulness, Leticia and her children heal and grow stronger daily.

Thanks to Both Hands, generous donors, and several board members, we were also able to raise $2,911 to support Legacy of Hope’s family preservation services. We believe that healthy families are the foundation of strong communities, and through our programs and services, we are blessed to contribute to positive change and growth across Honduras.
