Development Director Position
We're Looking For...
An ambitious individual who has experience leading successful fundraising initiatives, working in teams, and designing and implementing strategy in the area of development.
The Person in this Position Will...
- Engage and inspire existing major and mid-tier donors to continue or increase their involvement
- Seek out, introduce and welcome new major donors to our Organization
- Grow our coffee program to increase awareness and sustainability
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, a skilled manager, an engaging communicator, and has a passion for our mission.
They will represent Legacy of Hope Foundation to new and existing partners with professionalism and integrity.
This person must also be able to collaborate equally well with our executive director, board, and support staff.
Development Director Objectives
- Promote awareness of Legacy of Hope to a US audience
- Develop and execute a monthly giving strategy (individual and church)
- Develop and execute a major gift strategy (individual and institutional)
- Coordinate and execute fundraising campaigns and events to meet the organization’s targets
- Nurture and grow existing relationships with individual and institutional donors
- Expand Coffee Sales as an alternate revenue stream and brand awareness vehicle
Development Director ResponsIbilities
- Research and contact churches, individuals, foundations, and other development opportunities
- Represent the organization’s mission to new and existing donors
- Guide and collaborate with Honduran team members
- Develop or approve all written fundraising and outreach materials
- Supervise fundraising event coordination
- Maintain a database of donors, track gifts, and fulfill reporting requirements to all stakeholders
- Set and strive for fundraising and attrition goals in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Meet or exceed an initial fundraising goal of $50,000 in the first year
- Develop and execute a strategy to leverage the coffee program as an alternate partnership opportunity for churches and businesses
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in fundraising and/or sales and marketing
- Experience in managing databases, and using fundraising software or business CRM platform
- Proven track record of planning and executing successful sales or fundraising strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Proactive self-starter, driven
- Operates with integrity
- Excellent time management
- Charismatic networker
- Able to relate well and connect with a variety of personality types
- Confident, sincere, and effective in inviting people to partner with their resources
- Actively attending a church and striving to grow in their faith
- Maintains strict confidentiality for sensitive information
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in relevant field
Other Important Details
- Work from home, a cafe or wherever you are most comfortable.
- We are looking for candidates who live in a larger metropolitan area (>1 million). Bonus points if you live in a border state or near communities with large Latin populations.
- You have a passport and are open and able to travel to Honduras
- You will take initiative and not wait for instruction.
- You will think and project positivity.
- You take your work seriously, but you don’t take yourself too seriously.
